About Me

I didn’t grow up with what we now call “old money” (I probably won’t be able to keep up with all these new slangs soon), but I also didn’t grow up with lack. My relationship with personal finance has always been anchored in a few simple principles: I am frugal by nature, calculated by habit, and a bit allergic to unnecessary risk.

I’ve never been one to jot down every cent spent or build elaborate spreadsheets to track my money — it’s more of a mental ledger, and surprisingly, it works for me.

I’m inherently risk-averse, which is probably why I’ve never seen myself as the “entrepreneurial” type. But what I lack in risk appetite, I make up for in research. Whether it’s a new gadget, a trip, or even where to get the best bowl of noodles, I dive deep. I enjoy the process — and that’s saved me more than once.

Before full-time work, I dabbled in some odd jobs (including packing stickers for KFC — glamorous, I know). Most of my early funds came from joining contests, winning prizes, and flipping them. Fun fact: this very domain came from a contest I won back in 2010 — one year free, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Over time, I’ve come to understand why they say, “penny wise, pound foolish.” There’s a balance to strike between saving and spending smartly. Optimisation became a quiet obsession — not just for finances, but in how I live, work, and even travel.

These days, I’m not afraid to pay for convenience — to a certain extent. Because time, peace of mind, and energy are currencies too. And that’s the kind of wealth I’m learning to value more and more.

This blog has evolved over the years: what started as a platform for personal rantings and daily logs has now taken on a new direction. I’ve decided to reduce the personal monologues (though I still indulge in the occasional commentary on current issues) and focus more on creating content that’s relevant and helpful to a wider audience.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of brands — from Alcatel OneTouch and iProperty to adidas, Domino’s Malaysia, and Zalora Malaysia. These experiences have shaped not only my writing but my understanding of content, influence, and the power of community.
